Day 300

Today is the 300th day of the year. This is my 300th blog of the year.

To be completely honest, I’m not totally sure what I’m getting from daily blogging at this point in the year. When you’re 80% of the way done, it’s clear you could make it all the way to the end. So if you know getting to the end isn’t impossible, then what’s the point of getting to the end? When one day is less than 1% of the output, what’s the point in one day?

I’m not sure why I’m being this honest with you, but I’m trusting that it will mean something. Long challenges have days when the rug of meaning is pulled out from under them. And that’s when the challenge becomes real. Do you do it when it feels like it doesn’t mean anything? Maybe that’s when it means the most.

If you’re a creative and you’re in the thick of a long challenge, be encouraged that I feel the same way today. Be encouraged that even if you can’t see the meaning in your work today, its meaning will show itself to you down the road.
