Moving into abundance
Creating for any reason at all is a beautiful thing.
A quote I love from Joyce Carol Oates states, “My persistent and fundamental belief is that art is an expression of the human soul and need not ever, in any circumstances, justify its existence.” We don’t need to be creating for the “right reasons” and we don’t need to be making anything “meaningful” for the work to still be meaningful.
Any attempt to pick up the tools is a beautiful thing. But isn’t it more beautiful when we’re as present as we can be with the process? Creative consistency isn’t just about making up for lost time, or regaining a past passion. It’s about moving into abundance.
To cultivate a life with more art in it. To angle one’s life to spend more time creating and appreciating and engaging with art. Isn’t that a beautiful thing? Not to prove an old piano teacher wrong, or to show someone that you’re somebody. Only to spend a few more of your present moments being present with you love.
To let the well spring up from within you.
