The work was never unsafe

Think of someone who said something mean about your creative work. Maybe it was a teacher who didn’t believe in you, or a relative who wanted you to get a “good job” instead, or a friend who was insecure.

These words can become big blocks in our creative journeys because we start to think our creativity isn’t safe. There’s nothing inherently dangerous about painting or drawing or singing or writing. But we start to believe this creative work isn’t safe.

It was never the work that was unsafe. It was only the people. Usually, only one or two people. The quicker you can forgive them, and gain some space for your work, the quicker your creative garden will start to grow again.
