Walk the blog
Recently, I’ve been having trouble generating new ideas for my daily blog. Sometimes I sit and stare at a blank word document. Sometimes I search for too long online for inspiration. Sometimes I write something, delete it, then write something again.
I remembered a tactic I used in 2020 and 2021 when I was blogging daily. I called it “walking the blog.” I used to wake up, get dressed, and go for a walk around the block until I had an idea of what to write that day. The physical movement got the mental juices flowing, but more importantly, I proved to the resistance that I was putting in the work to find good ideas. I wasn’t sitting around, waiting for inspiration to strike, like so many amateur artists. I was making something happen.
Daily creativity takes a lot. It takes even more when you’re doing it for more than just a short challenge. You have to reorient your life around it. It may not be walking for you, but it could be more reading, more podcasts, finding more inspiration, or more mastermind calls.
