You’re giving away 6% of your day

If you made $1,000 on a project, and then a client called you out of the blue and asked for $62, without any urgent need or reason, would you give it to them? Probably not. That’s 6% of the project! We’re not usually receptive to random requests for money, anyway.

What if a client called you out of the blue, and asked to chat for a few minutes? A few minutes that turned into a 30-minute phone call? How often has that happened to you? Because it happens to me all the time. Here’s what’s funny: a 30-minute phone call is 6% of your day.

Why are we more protective of our money than our time? Time is far more valuable than money. Time is the only thing we can’t make more of, and we can’t get back.

Two things I’ve much been mulling over. 1. How can I be more protective of my time? How can I systemize that? 2. How can I be more protective of other people’s time? How can I make sure I’m not wasting anyone else’s?
