Growing a graphic design client base

I’m not a graphic designer so please don’t come at me with pitchforks when I say this, but it seems pretty simple to grow a client base as a graphic designer. At least in comparison to photographers and filmmakers. 

Take a look at Pete Rogers, Elisha Zepeda, or Kate Weinberg. I’m not saying what they do is easy, but it is simple. Take something popular that people love and redesign it for yourself. Share that on social (especially with algorithm-surfing formats like Kate and Pete), then start an email list with a 

Every month, send an email to your list with your availability for the coming month, and your recent work.
