Question-based hooks

One key component of my viral “Run the Numbers” series is that it starts with a question. “How much should you charge your client for a video that looks like this?”  I ask at the beginning of every one.

I’ve been thinking that question-based content could be effective, especially for self-development-style content. It’s always tough to endear yourself to new audiences when their first experience with you is unsolicited advice. This might be why the “Run the Numbers” series works well as a growth series for me: I ask a question first.

Asking a question first is unassuming, and it doesn’t come across like I’m trying to give them advice. It also queues up the topic, and opens a story loop for them. They want to know the answer. Keep your eye out for more question-based hooks in my content, and I’ll let you know how it goes.
