What if you never catch your big break?

What if dreaming about getting rich is the very thing keeping you from getting rich? I don’t mean this to say that if you simply stopped daydreaming, you’d have enough time to work and get rich. I’m saying the notion that one day you’ll get lucky and strike it rich keeps you from doing the slow and steady work that actually makes you rich.

Someone who believes that their big payday is coming soon doesn’t save or invest. Someone who believes that it’s only a matter of time before the world discovers their secret genius doesn’t take methodical steps to improve their skills or earning potential. Someone who believes their viral hit is just around the corner doesn’t take the time to engage with their audience on a personal level.

What if you never catch your big break? What if you never go viral? Does this mean you can’t be successful or rich, or retire? No. It just means that you have to do the daily work to become successful anyway. Then, if opportunities come, great. If they don’t, you still have a plan.
